Info on found rifle

I found a .22 rifle in a garage clean out for a friend and would like some info on it if possible . It's a Remington Match Master Mod. 513-T, 27" heavy barrel , heavy stock with target sights . It also has U.S. PROPERTY stamped on the barrel and reciever. It looks like some sort of competition rifle. Made in ILION N.Y. Please Advise

It is a target rifle manufactured between 1940-1969. The T designates it a target rifle. It came with Redfield aperture sights, 6 round detable magazine and a walnut, target-type stock with swing swivels. They also made a sporter version (S designation) with Marble's open sights and a checkered walnut stock between 1941-1956.

With the "US Property" stamps, I'd guess it started life as a military training rifle.
