From all I've read in the Ruger MKII forums is that the Stinger is a Hyper-velocity round and not recommended. I've shot a few out of mine but have otherwise stuck with High-velocity rounds only.

I wouldn't shoot them all the time, but some here and there can't hurt. Those Ruger .22s are tanks. Many a feeble .22 pistol requires hot ammo, and that Ruger is not feeble.

Never had any problems firing them in my 5.5" bull barrel MKII. In fact, they were more reliable feeders than the Federal lightning .22's from (no longer shop there) K-Mart.

I've always used Stingers and now Velocitors also in all my .22s. From Phoenix Arms HP22 to Marlin model 60 to Ruger mk1 and mk2; never had a problem.

I treat the hyper velocity .22's like a centerfire +p round. I use them every once in a while, but not all the time. If my memory serves, the Ruger Mk II manual even says to use "standard and high velocity .22's only", but never mentions hyper velocity. Because of this, I think too many of the hotter hyper velocities might accelerate wear.

If you notice, the hyper velocity rounds have lighter bullets. I'd imagine the recoil pulse is no greater than the HV rounds. I seriously doubt that any .22 gun that will handle HV rounds will experience any issues firing Stingers...

ditto what 7th fleet said...

I shot a box of 50 Stingers through my 5 1/2" stainless bull barreled MK II today without incident.

The only notable occurrence was the tightness of the groups.
