TOZ 35 Free Pistol

I am interested in knowing the experiences anyone may have with this Russian Free Pistol.

Thanks in advance.

I hate it when one of those Russkies gets in your pistol and messes it all up.

It's good to know that gun makers are listening to our complaints and making sure their products are free of Russians.

Oh! That's what it means. I thought someone was passing out free Russian pistols ... I was going to get in line.

I have never seen one, but they have an excellent reputation.

I don't own one (yet,) but I have a couple matches worth of trigger time on two different ones.

The TOZ35 is as good as a free pistol gets. You can spend more, but you won't get better performance. Most of the national, world, and Olympic champions in free pistol in the past ten years have shot the TOZ35, including the current world record holder, Bill Demarest.

They have good sights, a great trigger, and are as accurate as a Swiss watch.

If you shoot free pistol, buy one and be done with your free pistol needs.

Gun: TOZ-35M -- Purchased from the late Don Nygord of Nygord Precision (god rest his soul), back in '93-'94.

Ammo: Mexican-made Aguila SuperExtra .22LR Std. Velocity (Cheapest practice ammo available)

Grip: Rink Grip w/adjustable palmshelf

Place: Indoor 50 mtr. range

10 Shots fired from standing position, one handed, during training match)

6 shots clustered (measured approx. less than 1/2 inch c-to-c) at the bottom portion of the 10-ring, 3 shots group (about 3/4 inch wide) about an inch higher, still inside the 10-ring.

***ALL shots ended up exactly where I "called" them +/- 5mm. -- including the jerked 7 o'clock flyer in the 7-ring (ouch!).

My verdict:

As quoted by Christopher II:
They have good sights, a great trigger, and are as accurate as a Swiss watch.

If you shoot free pistol, buy one and be done with your free pistol needs.

Yours Truly,

-Bill (NOT Demarest).

Here's a visual for the rest of us that don't know what a TOZ 35 is.
