Loading for the 1911 in 10mm?
What is the powder of choice for loading the 10mm with 155gr and 180gr plated bullets to max FPS?
What powder would you use to make the FBI "lite" with a 180gr plated bullet? Thanks, Mark |

For full power loads:
AA#9 AA#7 Alliant Blue Dot Alliant Power Pistol These powders work very well with good quality plated 180 grainers. I would be a bit hesitant about trying to use 155 grain plated bullets, since you may be pushing them too fast to the point where the plating can get stripped. For FBI-spec loads... VV N340 Hodgdon Universal Clays Alliant Unique No worries about velocity here... |

First off, with the 10mm "max fps" is a very subjective thing. If you want really max loads, go to the glocktalk 10mm page and search on nuclear loads. You will find them.
My standard "book" max load for a 155 grn jhp is 12.4 grns of AA7, starline brass, cci300 primers, 1.254 COL. This will crank up about 1325 to 1350 fps in my guns. My standard "book" max load for the 180 grn jhp is 8.5 grns of Power Pistol (pretty mild actually), starline brass, cci300 primers, 1.254 COL. This will go about 1200 to 1250 depending upon which 10mm I chose. I do not shoot 40 equiv. loads in my 10mm's. I drop down and just shoot a true 40 instead. Good luck.
