Wanted --Opinions on the Glock G30--

I've seen a lot of good press on them, and have read raves from owners of them. The 2 that I saw being shot at the range were spooky accurate. One guy I watched switched back and forth between his new box stock G30 and a tricked out Colt Gold Cup. I couldn't tell the difference between which was which by the (tiny) groups he was firing. I'm not presently a Glock owner. Nothing against them except they're not exactly something that fits my taste. I'm willing to let that pass if the G30 is really as accurate as what I'm lead to believe.

Glock 30

Bought a Glock 30 last Dec. Love it. I have over 3K rounds through it. Shot a lot of Wolf as well. No misfeeds or jams, misfires. Also use it for IDPA competition and carry daily. Only addition I made was night sights.

G30 is a go. If you feel that it fits your hand well though. Alot of people I know say they can't stand mine because of the size for the grip. They say its too big. This is also a great piece to trick out with the little things that make a big difference. I've added mag extentions (no additional round of course), slug plug, extended slide release, and am about to get some night sights for it as soon as I can make my mind up as to which type. Accurate right out of the box. My first time out I was able to get extremely tight groups at 7 and 15 yards. The G30 is great. However I think of it as more of a winter or cooler weather carry piece because of its width. I use a Galco shoulder rig and a standard sliding belt holster for it. IWB is impossible for me with it because I need to drop a couple of tons first.... Be Safe... dinojas

p.s. This was also my first Glock, but it will not be my last I'm sure.

Wanted to like it, but the grip was way bigger than I expected.

Accurate.

Reliable.

Ergonomically, it is more like a brick than a handgun.

Too thick to easily conceal in the summer.

Its kind of a boring gun to shoot.

The recoil spring assembly busted after about 200 rounds, and I replaced it with an all-metal assembly from Glockmeister.com

The grip is too thick, and I actually prefer larger grips. Even the Glock 36 is pretty fat for a single stack pistol. My Taurus PT-145 Millennium put 10+1 in the same size grip as the Glock 36 (6+1).

I owned one for about a week. The fat grip caused Me not to shoot it very well and it hid under a sports coat like a red brick on My hip so I traded it off.It did function well however.tom.

Mine was very accurate, even had a nice trigger. Easy clover leaf groups at 10 yds, and gentle recoil.

OTOH, it's fat, points high, and the baseplate of the 10rd mag would pinch my finger.

My G30 is my favorite carry gun. Accurate, reliable and relatively easy recoil. It's a compact gun but shoots like a full size with a substantial caliber. It's a little bigger than the mini-Glocks (G26, G27) and a little smaller than the G19.

The ugliest (even for a Glock) and most accurate box stock Glock I have ever owned!

Carried a G30 as an undercover LEO for five years. Absolutely no problems. My department had 52 or 53 investigators, 7 of whom were female with no complaints. One of the best of all time.

The 30 was the first handgun I bought when I turned 21. That was back in 2001 when the AWB limited mags to 10 rounds. I had to sell it though because I needed some cash a few years back. I own a G21 now because I prefer full size guns.

The following general statement is true. If it fits your hand you will find it one of the most reliable, most accurate, easiest to conceal, double stack magazined .45's made. Plus the nearly indestructable nature of Glocks in general. Back that up with a price range from $500.00-$550.00 it just can't be beat. Very easy to customize. Mines my "rough use gun". Take it with me hiking an camping. Can't hurt it. With one regular mag and a G21 back up mag 24 rounds of big, fat bullets on tap. If it doesn't fit your hand look elsewhere.

I love the G30.

However, for my tastes, the grip is too massive front-to-back, and not big enough up and down.

I think Glock should lengthen the grip to G19 size, and shorten the grip front-to-back to XD size.

For me, a full grip (where the backstrap engages my whole hand) is a lot more comfortable than a stubby grip.

Having said this, if the G30 fits you well, buy it. It is the most accurate Glock I've shot, other than my G21.

Very accurate, reliable. I liked mine but wound up selling it. I suppose if I still had it, I'd be more inclined to keep it as I can now do all the work on it and I know its limitations.

I've carried mine as a secondary weapon (at work) and a primary off-duty weapon for 8 years now. It has never failed. It is easy to conceal and very accurate. I sometimes think that it has less felt recoil then my G21.
