USA mags for M1A

This is probably a dumb question considering what I've heard about USA AR mags, but are the ones for M1As any better? I'm looking into getting an M1A, but the prices for "GI-Spec" mags seems pretty high ($50). Is there an alternative, or am I looking in the wrong places?

Buy a couple of USA mags and suddenly the USGI will seem cheap. That's because the USA are cheaply made crap. Pure Junk, worse than the AR mags, don't do it, banish it from your mind. BTW I find plenty of mags for 30-35, some for sale here from time to time. 50 for new in wrap only, maybe if I'm feeling generous.
