Memorable NRA advertisements
What do you think were some of the NRA's most memorable advertisements? What about its most effective (in terms of convincing people with no strong convictions about firearms)? What ads do you think the NRA would have been better off without?
Personally, my favorite NRA ad campaign will always be the "I'm the NRA" series, because it depicted us as normal, everyday people, not the crazy fanatics that we are often accused of being. I thikn that the ad calling federales "jack booted thugs", despite being correct, probably cost the group some credibility in the general public's eyes. What about you? |

Jack booted Thugs...
I saved the full page USA Today ad & hung it in my office. That was HUGELY controversial amonst the liberal press, and I remember Wayne LaPierre trying to deflect Russert's assaults on meet the pricks. Despite the negative press, I think it galvanized the 'already convinced'.
I only wish they'd been more prepared for the negative onslaught, and if they'd followed up with a listing of atf abuses, it would've been way more effective. Still my favorite - |
