Cleaning/storing ring lap?

Is Gun Scrubber OK to use to get the lapping compound off the lap? Will it harm the surface?

Is a light coat of plain old gun oil good for protecting a lap for storage? Will it have any effect on the lapping compound the next time I use it?

I just squirt the crud off with Balistol and then give it a light coat of same.

I put it back in the original box and stow it in a 20mm ammo can with other stuff like that. No rust or corrosion yet.

Even though the 20mm ammo can is waterproof and airtight, I toss some dessicant in there, too.
