I don't own a .44 Special handgun,,, - Page 4

I do not currently own a .44 special only gun. What I do own is a S&W 629 Mtn Gun in .44 mag that I cannot stand to shoot with magnum loads. As a result, and because I am smarter in my old age, this gun is now a designated .44 special only gun and it is perfect.

I love the .44 special. It is perfect in many areas for self defense, small game hunting, plinking, etc., etc. My two favorite calibers right now are big relatively slow bullets in .44 special and .45 Colt and the S&W Mtn. Guns are perfect launching platforms.

My S&W Mt. Lion, #437 of 500, is a 4-inch model 29, 44 mag, which in turn is a .44 special be default! No photos at the moment, my son has it in Alaska the last 12 years!

I forgot about this one. In recent years I sort of divested myself of most of my pre-war S&Ws, but I kept a couple for nostalgia, including this 3rd Model sent to Wolf & Klar in Houston in 1929. Been refinished but nickel is correct and original.

.44 Special Ruger/Lipseys, home made grips.

Another Lipsey's .44 Special...blued, 4-5/8" bbl, fence rail grips.

Ruger's 5-1/2" bbl'd model .44 Special Flat Top, walnut grips off our farm.

Doll 'er up with a good home made leather rig and crab apple grips.

I had 44 special Blackhawk as well as Lew Horton S&W at one time, but sadly only have a couple Charter Bulldogs now. The 44 special is my favorite for keeping in the nightstand.

you guys have got me lusting for a steel framed 44 special... I have a S&W air lite in 44 special, that makes a great cc gun, but I think I need a steel one for some range play... ( hate to shoot the light weight much... not because it's hard on me, but because I love it, & don't want to wear it out )

I picked up this 696 a while back.

I was carrying it, but then I saw what the prices on these are getting to (it's a "no dash" model) and thought better of it.

Aarond ..... I think you'll like the feel and performance of Ruger's Lipsey .44 spl BH Bisley flat-top. I purchased 2 of them w/4 5/8" bbl's, and a really good value for the money I think. One is my shooter and remains factory original, while I decided to customize the 2nd one, posted below. Accuracy pkg, front sight and Belt Mtn base pin by Jim Stroh. Turnbull CCH w/nitre blue pins, screws, trigger, etc. Custom Exhibition Turkish Walnut grips w/ blind screw in right side panel from Larry Caudill. Almost too purdy to shoot, but I'm certain that will definitely change sometime soon.
