.300 Win Mag sabot rounds
Anybody else tried to load an "Accelerator" round for the 300 Win Mag? I have tried with a 6 grain sabot, 40gr Hornady VMax. I have moved and have lost the load data for what powder I used, and the charge. I think the powder was 3031, but am not sure. I only have a couple left, and want to load some more. These work well on Coyotes under 200 yards. Reasonable accuracy, 1 inch 5-shot groups at 100 yds.
I was getting approx 5500 fps when I could get an error free trap. I got this from a gun magazine from the late 70's or early 80's. Any help would be appreciated. |

300wm
I thought about doing the same thing awhile back. Then I thought I would be better off shooting the normal 300WM rounds as it increases the shooting time with this caliper.

.300 win mag sabot rounds
I guess I missed the web page when I was doing a search.
I found one that says they should get 5100 fps from a 21 in barrel, 100% load density at 81.8 gr of IMR 3031. Sounds like the load I was using. My rifle has a 26 in barrel, and have been consistently over the published numbers by 200-300 fps for the published charge. If any one is intersted, here is the web page. They have data for several different cals, including 308 300 H&H 300 Weatherby 308 Norma and 30 carbine www.eabco.com/Reports/report04.html |

I load some sabots for my .308. Fun little round, and devastating on water bottles or varmints. I loaded some Tungsten .223 bullets in sabots just for grits and shiggles, they were pretty devastating on some steel targets too. CV63DAD, not to worry about having only a couple left, you can buy more here. That's where I get mine.

Do you use the seating dies? I have never used them, and have had no problems when seating with my regular 300 dies. I just have to crank them down a bit.

Nah, I just use my standard dies and, as you say, crank them down a bit...
