Anybody own a Vektor CP1,,,

I stumbled on the wikipedia site and fell in love with the styling,,,
OKay, I grew up reading Buck Rogers type sci-fi.

According to the write-up it wasn't all that great of a pistol,,,
When they started having problems the company bought them back.

I just think it's an awesome physical design.

P.S. Yes ('cause I know someone will ask) I love the Whitney Wolverine as well.

That's what the Wiki article stated,,,

Apparently the manufacturer decided on a buy back program,,,
Rather than a repair type of solution.

I was so intrigued by the looks though,,,
It's kind of outer-spacey.

James Bond should carry one of these.

What caliber lasers does it shoot? Its probably got some sort of collectors following for anyone that didn't sell it back. Agreed it looks cool but if it was so bad that they issued a buy back I wouldn't be keeping mine.

They caused quite a stir when they arrived and were the darlings of gun rags. Unfortunately, there was a design problem which prompted a recall. I have heard that a number of buyers decided not to participate in the recall and have, what I think, is a unique pistol.

I was actually one of the guys that test fired that gun before it went into manufacture.

It was an ok pistol in 9mm para. There was a factory recall some years later to do an upgrade on the safety.

All in all it was ok. Nothing spectacular

I always thought they looked cool. I think the first time I saw one was when the male lead on the show Dark Angel (the guy who plays DiNozo on NCIS now) tried to get Jessica Alba to carry one on some mission. In true Hollywood super commando fashion, she, of course, didn't use guns, but then I stopped reflecting on silly plot points and resumed drooling.

Hello HorseSoldier,,,

You are correct,,,
I went to www.imfdb.org and looked up dark Angel,,,
Sure enough there was a picture of the gun in a presentation box.

I'm fairly sure I saw one at a gun show a few years back,,,
I didn't give it much thought at the time,,,
I don't especially want to own one,,,
I would like to shoot one though.

That's the way it is with most guns for me,,,
If I know someone who owns one,,,
And will let me shoot it a bit,,,
It's as good as owning it.

One of the benefits of belonging to a relatively large rifle and pistol club,,,
Lotsa people with lotsa firearms and most are friendly as heck,,,
When I was deciding what Wunder-9 to buy for myself,,,
My fellow members let me shoot a lot of pistols,,,
I always took my 629 to loan something back.

As soon as our message board goes on-line,,,
I'll ask if anyone has one of these,,,
Maybe I'll get lucky there.

Aarond

RE: Anyone own a Vektor CP-1

Yeah....I do. It i a little radical looking and Denel Corp. tried to buy them all back. I read what "they" said about the gun, decided it was no more dangerous than a pre-safety (model 80) Colt 1911a1 and carried on.

It functions and works reliably, at least mine does. The two types of mag are nice. The quality i there....you can see and 'feel' it. The trigger safety i a bit like a Garand. Mine works fine....I acquired all of the spares with the 'briefcase' from a second CP-1 that the owner must have let Denel / Vector frighten them out of.

The supposed 'safety issue' is a non-starter for me......

I own two cp 1

Ok vektor was so afraid of our court system. They recalled rather than deal with our sue happy country. I have two Vektor cp1's and absolutly love them. Accurate and easy to carry. The recall was when they were dropped they had one go off. Duh! Majority were fine as with any gun you handle with care.

Found one at a pawn shop years ago, told them about the buy back program and they didn't care. So I bought it and sent it in, made $200 on the deal.

Now they're pretty rare and worth more money probably should have kept it.
