Just got a 870

Hey guys

I just got my first shotgun, the remington 870. I did not get the tactical version, as the standard one is much cheaper.

I was wondering about the breaching choke the tactial version comes with...

I know it is threaded and simply screws into the end of the barrel. What I would like to know is would i need to get a threaded barrel, or is the one that i have ready to accept the choke? (i did not look for threading when i initially cleaned it so am not sure)

Very nice, I've had my Wingmaster since I was 10 years old (now 24) and it is still in my top two favorite guns.

If your barrel is threaded for chokes, you're good to go (I won't bother with my personal opinion on the breacher toy)

If your barrel is a fixed choke barrel - that would mean you would need to have someone thread it for the correct pitch - companies like Briley do it well for a reasonable cost

you know, right after i put up the post, i changed my mind on the breacher choke thing. i just wont put the barrel right up against anything.
done and done.

now, just need a bandolier (cos it looks cool :P), a scabbard (again, looks cool, and i can pull it out quickly if i need to), and fire it a couple hundred times

i think i would like to get a flashlight for it though, as it will mainly be a home defense weapon, and seeing exactly who i am pointing my thunderstick at seems like a very good idea.

" ...and fire it a couple hundred times"...

Amen.

It will not last you a long, long time, though. It will last your Family for generations if given care.

Don't nuy anything yet except ammo. Shoot it until it's a body part, not a tool. At that point, you'll know what mods and addons it needs.

Enjoy....

thanks mate

yeah, i know it will outlast me. maybe give it to my kids one day... if i have any.

I will get the scabbard for it. the cardboard box it came in is kinda ugly under the bed... but other than that, ill think about mods once i hit 500 rounds.

yeah... i wish it were so for me too.

i dont get to shoot as often or as much as i like, ammo gets pricey... and i dont reload as i live in an apartment and space is a premium.

one day though... one day i will spend hours out in the bush with a boatload of ammo.

Hardly worth getting it dirty for less than a couple hundred rounds.

Forget the silly bandolier. Get yourself a Tac-Star 6 shell side saddle that attaches to the frame.
