picking an AR flip-up rear sight
Out of all the ones to pick from...ARMS, Troy, YHM, GG&G, and the MaTech mil standard, what is the best bang for the buck?

Matech mill standard BUIS. Got mine NIB on amazon for $64.99. Not a bad deal for a great product.

Best Bang for the buck IMO is a magpul rear mbus if you're OK with it being polymer.

I own a Troy BUIS and a Matech. Best value for the dollar goes to the Matech. The Matech has simple 100 yard elevation adjustments out to 600. What I like better on the Troy is the lockup on fold down/up.

I have the Magpul MBUS on my AR at the moment... but I used to have the YHM flip up sights and I kinda wish I still did.
Nothing wrong with the MBUS, but the YHM sights were well built and didn't have a steep price tag. YHM = Best Value IMHO

I use the matech and it works great for me. I think I have another laying around if you're looking for one. PM me if you're interested.

I don't know about the others, but Troy does not have elevation adjustments on the rear flip-up sight (know your range, know your holdover). Elevation adjustments are made by way of the front sight post when zeroing.
Matech - follow the zeroing instructions, thereafter, elevation adjustment is an easy, quick adjustment (no tools). |

I have the Magpul set and paid about $100 for them. All my ARs will have them now. They've been through hell and take it like a champ.
