PB Blaster
I have an old Colt 22lr conversion kit that is pretty badly rusted on one side but I wanna save the finish the best I can. I also have a USGI Colt 1911A1 that has some small rust spots I also would like to remove without damaging the finish.
Will PB blaster remove the finish along with the rust? Thanks for your help |

It will remove neither, but it will remove all the oil thats on the parts.
Use 0000 steel wool, or brass/bronze wool to gently scrub the rust away. Then, scrub with WD 40 on a rag, then oil the parts. |

PB Blaster penetrating oil will loosen the rust so that you can work on it with 0000 steel wool. The finish has already been ruined by the rust.

Google electronic rust removal, baking soda, bucket, water, battery charger and a steel or cast iron anode. Simple and works great. Only removes rust.
I used it on a couple of old guns with great success. |

FW, I may be wrong 9it happened once before), but I beleive it will also remove the blueing, since blueing is just a controlled rust process?
