New Britain Arms Double Barrel

I inherited a 12-gauge double barrel shotgun from my father. It was manufactured by New Britain Arms. I can find nothing about this shotgun. It has no additional markings nor a serial number.

Has anyone heard of this brand? It has exposed hammers. I can tell it is quite old, but have no idea how old. I had a local gunsmith clean it up for me, but he knew nothing about the manufacturer. I doubt that is worth much money. It does hold sentimental value to me and I would like to know a little more about it.

Sounds like an American name, so likely American made, but some European guns did carry American names. Are there any special stampings on the underside of the barrels? If so, they could tell us a few things.

Harley's Masterwork says H D Folsom and Co. Crescent and Folsom were connected.

IMO, this is an artifact and heirloom, not a shooter. Hang it over the mantel and enjoy the view.

I have had a couple of old doubles made by Crescent. I have an American Gun Co. rabbit ear that I take rabbit or squirrel hunting sometimes for nostalgia.It's all we had when I was a kid, too poor for the new stuff. If it locks up tight and it is not a damascus barrel I wouldn't be afraid to shoot low brass shells in it. If you want to.

Thanks for help. The Yahoo link proved to be most helpful. And the shotgun is on the mantle. It seems a little to loose to shoot safely.
