Need feedback ASAP!! Drop in trigger question

I am looking at a Shilen Standard trigger for my Remington 700 5R. I had replaced the original X Mark Pro trigger with a Rifle Basix, but I have had lots of problems with it. Anyway... I use this rifle strictly for long range (1000 yard) competition shooting, and not hunting. I have a match coming up quick, and if I order the new trigger I will also have to order a replacement safety kit as well (Remington pre 2006) and I don't know if I'll have time to install and test it before the match.

So, will the new trigger function (ie fire the rifle) WITHOUT the safety installed. Since I can only load 1 round at a time as per the F Class regs, I don't see being without the safety lever installed as a major issue. Am I wrong????
