ammo
Did anyone ever use this kind of ammo it's pmc 5.56x45 62gr. Fmj brass case boxer primer with green steel penetrator tip.3,100 fps,1,300 ft.lbs. sportsmanship guide has them on sale now,$ 415.000,per 1,000 rnds.I would think this is like an armor piercing round,it also said they are loaded under higher pressures than normal rounds.
I shoot targets, for the money what the check,I have never shot a round like that. |

It's M855, which is one of the standard military rounds. Technically, it's not AP, but is instead considered a "penetrator" round due to it's ability to penetrate ballistic armor. The actual AP rounds have a tungsten tip in front of the steel core. The M855 is a good shooting round, and it's about the only ammo I run through my AR, as I have an ample supply of it.

Better deals are out there
^ What he said.
You sound be able to find bulk M855 by american eagle or federal for around $.35/round. The round shoots well in my rifle. However, I tend to prefer XM193 for my applications since barrier penetration is not what I am going for. XM193 seems to be slightly cheaper in general as well. |

You have to be a member to get it for that price. Their "membership" is a complete rip-off. I've never found a product there that I couldn't get for less somewhere else without having to pay extra to be a "member".

Prior to Sandy Hook, the ban panic and the shortages that followed, Sportsman's Guide had very reasonable prices on ammo. When other retailers were out of stock, SG kept their prices low and had a pretty robust inventory, but once they ran out, it took them longer than most to get restocked. Since then, their prices have been comparatively higher, even with a membership.
Because I live within a few miles of their outlet store, I bought a membership and have taken advantage of it enough to basically cover the cost and still score good prices, but I very rarely buy ammo from them anymore. I've found much better prices at PSA and sometimes MidwayUSA and Cabela's. As far as PMC is concerned, their Bronze Series .223 FMJ makes up the bulk of my plinking supply, and I also have quite a bit of their X-Tac XM193 and 855. All of them have been 100% reliable in my three .223 rifles. |
