Peltor Tactical 6S Electronic Earmuffs
Midway USA has these on sale for $89.99. Having used electronic earmuffs before I like them and feel that they have advantages in many situations. Has anyone used these particular muffs and have an opinion either good or bad about them? They look like they have a low outline.
Thanks.

The low outline comes at a price, less insulation. They are only rated 19dBA reduction. Depending on the surroundings, I would consider double plugging. (Wear plugs under the muffs and turn the volume up to hear range commands.)

For hunting or plinking off a handfull of .22's off the back porch, I just wear the Tactical 6S. If I'm spending a couple hours shooting, I wear a good set of plugs under them.
I left them turned on for a week and the batteries were still fine. I love them! Ty |

Midsouth has them for 69 and I have a pair I wear in the shop all the time and they are pretty good, but the T7 are much better and worth it for indoor shooting.

The headset is basically an amplifier packaged into a set of earmuffs. As you turn them all the way up, you actually hear quite a bit better.
When the electronics picks up an accoustic noise spike, they stop amplifying (the signal is "clipped"). So sometimes, when you're loading magazines, cycling the action of your gun or clinking things around, they'll clip and then quickly come back up to normal. They'll do it when you clap your hands. Any body used the newer electronic headphones? Supposedly they electronically reverse the sound spike so they give better hearing protection. I am looking for personal experience.
