Need Info on Colt Trooper MK III 22 magnum
I'm considering selling it.
Can anyone help me to determine when this revolver was made and a possible value? It was purchased in 1980 Y24XXX serial number. It's a 6" nickle finish with Pachmayr presentation grips. It's been used very little for target practice. However, I don't have the original box or receipt. Thanks for any help! |

Anyone out there?
Hey guys,
64 have read this post but no responses? If I was buying one of these rather than selling one, where would I go for the info? I truly would appreciate someone directing me where to go ( not to hell though! ) From a damsel in distress.. Thanks! |

Condition is everything!
Can you post some pics of the revolver? It would really help the experts here to give you a good estimate of value. Also you can check some of the online auctions, and see what the current listings are going for, or at least what the sellers are asking for starting bids. It would at least put you in the ball park as to value. Don't think I am supposed to list any names of auctions here, either PM me or email me, and I will give you a couple sites where you can look for revolvers like yours for sale, Jim [email protected] |

Thanks Jim!
I'm working on the pictures.....problem is that I can't find my USB cable to upload my camera pics! Once I find it, I'll get the pictures posted. I'll also send you a PM about the websites. Thanks again, Lynn |

Y24XXX was made in 1980. The year started at Y10935.
The value is decreased since the grips are not original and you don't have the original box and papers. However, price goes up for the low production bright nickel and the .22 Magnum caliber. .22 Magnum adds 50% to the value. Actual condition determines value, but assuming 95%, about $850 minimum. |

I'm not a good photographer but maybe this will help show the overall condition.
I hope I'm doing this right Lynn |

Dfariswheel, thank you very much!
When I bought it in 1980, the dealer convinced me to put the Pachmyr on it the day I bought it. I think he kept the original grips. Oh well, live and learn! Thanks again Lynn |

Lynn,
What you attempted to paste in as a picture was the address to your photobucket album, not an individual picture. You need to copy the tag for the individual photo that you want to paste, as I have done, to make it show up in the forum.

Same thing with boxes and papers. I'm sure a lot of them never left the gun store, until they hit the dumpster out back. BTW. Nice gun. I'd say DFaris is right on by what I've seen in my LGS. Maybe a bit low.

The finish on your Colt is satin electroless nickel, also known as "Coltguard".
This is a less common finish than bright nickel. |

I wish I could find one for sale that was exactly like mine. I've looked on various gun auction websites and haven't found one yet (close but not close enough). It would help me to come up with a value for mine. If anyone out there finds one, I would appreciate knowing about it and which website. Please send me a PM.
Thanks guys & gals, Lynn |

Just guessing, but I am figuring around 600.00.
Looks in pretty nice condition, and I have seen the .357 Troopers going for around 500.00. Be careful with the rubber Pachmyrs because there could be staining under the grips on the side plates. My smith came with rubber P's and it marred the nickel finish. Had to work hard to clean off the stain.

Last month, a Gunbroker dealer turned down a bid of about $820 for a blue MK III 22 mag.
I traded one with an 8" barrel recently. $800 - 850 would be a decent price. |
