First, let me Welcome You to TFL.
Second, WOW! WHAT A FIRST POST. I'm gonna go make some popcorn for this one. Third, have you shot the Glocks yet? Some don't like the grip angle, trigger etc. Is there a problem with the Kimber or just want something different? |

thanks, nice site by the way. i tried posting on craigslist but i kept getting flagged. Im in law enforcement so im real familiar with glock. on the 30 i have no problems with the grip, but the actual gun is much wider and real blocky than the model 22 I carry. I just figured i post this and see what anyone else would do. theres nothing wrong with the kimber other than the fact its real fancy and an absolute pain to put back together after cleaning.

I love my glock 36 and it is a great gun. That being said, i got it for $350 and I suspect you could do the same. I say this so you can judge if the two glocks combined are anywhere close to the Kimber in value.
I think you are getting the short end of the deal, but i'll let others comment. |

its def less in value. i get the L.E.O discount on glocks, so for a pair of glocks new would cost me $850 as to where the kimber goes for around $1k to $1250. hopefully some peoples inputs will help me make up my mind.

Personally, I would not do it. I see no reason to own the Glock 30 and the Glock 36 together. The glock 36 is basically a slimmer glock 30.
Either one is good enough on its own. Sell the kimber if you don't want it and buy the G36 or the G30 (whichever you like better). Then use the other half for ammo or a different gun. |

well my plan originally was to sell it, but there isnt anyone out there that wants to pay the money for it. Im also asking $950 for the gun when all the shops around here are asking $1,100 or more.

Since your a member here now, go to the 'handgun for sale' forum and see what your Kimber is going for here.
Seems I remember a small waiting period for new members before you can sell something on there but may be worth your wait. Would also give you an idea of what the used Glocks are going for. |

There is a great site I have used to buy guns from called Armslist.com.
It is basically a craigslist for guns and stuff. You might see if you can get 2 different caliber glocks, like a 45 and a 40.

Personally I wouldn't do it. I love 1911's for starters... its less in value for second.... and you already have a .45 in the Kimber.... I would just save and buy a Glock in a different caliber maybe.
I don't hate Glock... i used to own a 17... but it was too big and bulky for me, I like the 19 however. |

I personally dont like double stack mags because they feel to fat. I dont mind wide grips (front to back) but I dont like grips that are fat side to side.
I think Glocks are great guns but I dont own any. In fact I hate fat grips so much that I keep slim grips on my Coonan Classic because the standard 1911 thickness grips felt too fat. That said if you really want the Glock than go for it! My brother owns a Glock 33 and trusts it so much it is his carry gun.

if it were me, and i wanted a glock, AND wanted to get rid of the kimber... i would just sell the kimber, buy the glock i want, and use the rest of the cash on reloading dies/components... or another gun that is more different than a 30 and 36.

theycall,
+1 there is absolutely no reason to have 2 glocks that closely related. You could have something completely different for the "other" gun. Kimber sells well so shouldn't be a problem getting rid of. It is probably and OK deal if you really want 2 glock .45. Good luck!

Ghost556; I'm curious, what problems did you have with your Kimber?

i would indeed rather have two glocks as apposed to one kimber, but i'm honestly not a fan of the g36 at all. g30 is a nice gun, but i would add a g19 or g23 into the mix. Last edited by Don Glock; July 1, 2011 at 01:52 AM. |

I obviously don't know the condition of any of the guns involved, but it sounds like a bad trade to me.
Ignore the Glock fans and Kimber/1911 fans pulling for you to stick with or switch to their favored platform. My point has nothing to do with which is a better gun. It's just a value question, and I think you would be getting the short end of that deal. If you want the Glocks, get them, but you don't need to get screwed in the process. Quote:

I think the difficulty is in figuring out the value of your Kimber versus the value of two Glocks.
The other factor is letting your desire influence your decision. If you want 2 Glocks and don't want a Kimber, you're likely to over-value the Glocks and under-value your Kimber. If you look in the classifieds on Glocktalk.com and other sites you might get an idea of what the prices are. I haven't looked on the site but ballpark I'm thinking those Gen 3 Glocks go for around $430-$450 |

DonGlock; Agreed, the 19 is also my favorite. I have not had the chance to shoot the 36, but I'm interested.

I agree with Austin, it's all about the value of the deal.
I would throw in, that it's what you want that really counts. As you can see, the opinions vary in the forum. |
