Sako stainless sling swivels - anyone recognise these?
I recently purchased at auction what claimed to be Sako stainless sling swivels as shown in this picture.
[IMG] They seem well made but have no marking on them. They came with a 2mm allen key but there is nowhere to use it. There seems to be a bit missing from each swivel as there is no way to firmly lock the pin in place. It is just a push/click fit - a good fit but not bombproof. As you can see from the photo bottom right there is a groove on the pin which seems to be asking for a circlip or similar fitting. Does anyone recognise where they are from and what, if anything, is missing. They do look nice on my Sako 75 Finnlight but I would like something a bit more secure before taking them into the field. I had one nasty experience a few years back when a swivel opened and the sling dropped off the forend as I was lining up a rapidly disappearing chamois for a quick shot . So I will probably try to get or make a circlip to fit but it would be nice to know what is supposed to be there. Thanks, David |

I thought this thread was dead!
Yes you are right, they are Sako 75 (or 85} swivels. I know because a Sako 85Finnlight I bought recently came with an identical set but the pins are a lot tighter fit than the ones in the picture. I fitted a small circlip in the groove in the pin and they haven't dropped off my 75 yet. Although no clip came with the 85 (nor Allen key either) I also used a circlip on this rifle to be sure. And, sorry no, I don't want to sell them - they look nice on the Finnlights. David |
