Leather
I use leather often for vise jaw pads when working on guns, especially when it has to be clamped on tight. Don't throw away those worn out Red Wing work boots. Rip out the stitching and save the uppers, they work great when cut to size. You can also cut into thin strips to use as zipper pulls.
