Saw a good deal on some cast iron frying pans at a garage sale last weekend. Started me wondering about whether they would be good targets. I bet they would have a nice ring to 'em. I shoot .357/.38 special.

Never tried them. Don't know the strength. You would think if it could take the heat it could take a hit. Ha.

I really doubt that they would take anything larger than a .22 rimfire. I know that "cowboy" loads are pretty light, but cast iron isn't that tough. What the heck, if you can pick up some cheap, give it a try, it might work or you might just have lighter pockets.

If you try them, let us know how they work. Cast Iron is brittle and I expect they might not stand up.
