How to remove action bars from the forearm of Rem 870?

I got into the Remington site and figured out the disassembly, but still couldn't figure out how to remove the action bars from the forend. The reason I'm asking is that I may replace the forend with a synthetic one. Any ideas?

You WILL need the tool: years ago I made my own out of pipe, ground away till I had a couple of nubs to match the slots on the forend nut. I later saw a much simpler design made out of a flat bar with two nubs to match the slots...you'll have to remove the bolt assembly, yoke, and dog to remove the nut with the flat kind, though.

Gents: A simple thank you seems inadequate...but thank you!!
BTW -The prospect of refinishing the wood suddenly seems more appealing.
