OK, I'll admit that I was exaggerating a little about the heavy overcoat.

One of those will definitely stop most Cowboy Action Shooters' .38 Spl handloads, but a .41 RF derringer load MIGHT get through...LOL

A recent GUNS Magazine article...

...found greater velocity and penetration than previously thought for the .41 Short Rimfire. Smokeless powder rounds were found to deliver a 130 grain bullet at 550 to 600 fps from a Remington derringer.

When did they start offering smokeless?

That bumps up velocity from BP by about a hundred fps.
