What's so special about the Enfield that has a sling on it?

It's the T model, the sniper variant if I read the list right. Pretty rare.

Just wondering. Sling to me indicates one that gets used.

boattale,
When I have my guns out for cleaning I always remove slings to prevent oils and grime working into the canvas webbing - there was less concern over the No4T since to be frank it is a safe Queen and never gets fired as a rule, ie it was already clean. Tiki.

Some of you have seen this, some haven't:
I apologize in advance for the screw heads; they were taken apart literally hundreds of times. I've since replaced them and found a proper bit for my torque wrench that will not cause damage to the new ones, even over the long-term! The action is shimmed and the barrel corked:
I also made some cool things like a two-stage Finn M39-style trigger. Instead of pins, it has bearings |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdO8M4-idqE Here is a trigger I modified while taking time to record the manufacturing process. Please bear in mind that this is during manufacture and it does not yet have grease or bluing on it. This is very similar to the Finnish M39's trigger; this is just a Finnish idea that I improved on a bit. This rifle is capable of this (or rather, I'm capable of doing this, with my 20/55 sight; I'm sure the rifle's much better): Regards, Josh |

My soon to be hog gun. I am going to leave it just like it is. The only addition I am making is the one I already have. I will slide on a Buttler Creek Medium slip on on recoil pad. Other than that I drift adjusted the sights, and tuned in a hand load.
This group was at 50 yards seated, using my knee to rest my elbow on. 10 shots fired at a rate of one shot per minute. Note my hadloads with Speer Hot Core 150 grain SP .311 diameter shoot even better than this. The group shown was with 185 grain Monarch steel case FMJ.

I am using IMR 4320 for the hunting loads. I do not have my notes handy to give a velocity number.
General purpouse plinking loads are .308 bullets for the .30 carbine. 115 grains either the RN soft point, or FMJ the price on them is the same either way. (I also load .30 carbine.) I load them with Trail Boss. Averaged velocity with a 3.1 CC dipper heaping full was about 1700 FPS +/- 50 FPS. That was using CCI LR primers. I had good results with Hornady 125 grain soft points in .310 loaded with IMR 4320 as well. 50 yard groups were under an inch off of sand bags.

Here's a pic of me on my first hunting trip with my Sporterized Mauser. I couldn't find a pic of just the rifle unfortunatly. It's got a super ergonomic thumbhole stock and a 9x-40 Simmons scope on it. Off of the bench it shoots about a 1 inch group (my offhand groups are more like 4-5inches, minute of Deer at least). Not too shabby.

You guys with the sporter 1903's are making me jealous. Most of the ones i've even seen were beat to hell and back. All the ones you guys have shown are amazing looking. I'd be glad to have any of them.

My 1903A3 sporter is pleasingly accurate...but she kicks like a mule.

Don't have a photo handy, but my 1917 Eddystone looks pretty much just like every other armory-refinished Eddystone. Shoots darn well, too. Sadly, I don't use it for much hunting since there's nothing in southeast Texas that can't easily be taken down with a .308.
