Need a holster for my Kimber

Open carry starts in Oklahoma November 1. I don't plan to open carry all the time but when I do I want a holster fitting for it. I see most of the compact 1911 holsters on the market don't have a thumb-break. My Kimber is the 3" compact model I bought for concealed carry. Now when I conceal, I am not worried about exposure or printing but I want more retention when I need to open carry in our over 100 degree summers.

I have looked at some of the more popular brands out there and have not found just the right rig. I am wanting leather that will completely cover the gun and look fairly nice when visible. So, leather, outside WB belt holster with thumb-break for a 3" 1911.

Any advice?

If you are right handed & plan to open carry the compact 1911a1 model, I'd select a well made polymer or Kydex holster with at least a level II security system.
Good brands to check into include; www.comholsters.com www.blade-tech.com www.blackhawk.com www.safariland.com www.highnoonholsters.com www.donhume.com www.miltsparks.com www.mitchrosen.com .
The Safariland SFS or ALS rig could do well. A Blackhawk SERPA CQC is fast & secure. Some armed professionals & LE officers knock the SERPAs saying they can break or jam with dirt/crud/sand etc.
I own a M&P SERPA rig and haven't had any issues yet. I honestly would not wear the holster in bad weather or hard use environments either.
For standard leather, many gun owners like horsehide. It costs more but will last for years with proper care. Greg Kramer is well known for horsehide. Other good holsters include Bulman, Mernickle, El Paso Saddlery & Ted Blocker.

Milt Sparks.

I ordered mine a few months ago and am expecting it in Feb. They have a 5 month wait but I've only heard great things.

I'm sure you could find one for a 1911 through another site/ dealer instead of ordering direct. They use retention instead of a thumb break though.
