Question about Glock19 gen 3

I just bought a brand new G19 and love it!! After firing 100 rounds through it i started cleaning and noticed this. On both sides right behind those rear rails there is a gap and what seemed like some excess plastic so i removed the excess plastic and cleared it out with a small screwdriver. I was just wondering if this looks normal? Is there suppose to be a gap? There is a photo attached...Thanx!!
