Help Identify Low Swooping Stock?
The conquistador on the right in the flip flops; what is he carrying on his shoulder? Is it a specific type of arquebus?

It's a petronel. You put the stock against your chest, or use it like a pistol grip shotgun.

Wikipedia claims that some of them were wheellocks. It looks incredibly hard to aim with only two hands while holding it against one's chest.

Matchlocks.
Some earlier ones were held to the side of the chin. Go to a re-enactment and talk to the reenactors. Sometimes they show up at Rendezvous too.
