SKS Bayonet
This may seem like an odd question, but I am wondering if it is possible/legal to swap the "front sight block" on an SKS to mount a bayonet. And if so were can I get a replacement "sight block" that still has the bayonet lug on it (the one on my gun was removed).

the bayonet on an SKS does not mount to the front sight post, it is a flip up bayonet that is mounted about 2 inches back from the sight post.
if you are talking about trying to swap an SKS front sight post with that of say, and AK47 which would have a non-attached bayonet then that will not work as the AK sight post is much higher and you would be unable to properly zero it.

I understand that, but when I look at the gun, the front sight post appears to be attached to a "sleeve" that is pinned in place on the barrel. About 2 inches back from the front sight post I can see marks from a grinder that was used to remove the bayonet mounting lug, both the front sight post and the bayonet lug are normally attached to this piece.

To the OP,
Go to the survivors SKS boards. Prince50 makes or sells a replacement front sight for it.
