My Hunting collection is pretty simple,

Birds (including Turkey) and Rabbit- Mossberg 500A 28 inch barrel with changeable chokes

Tree Rats- Good old Walmart Crossman Powermaster bb gun with 4x scope

Keep it simple brother:

For small game to coon:

For Deer:

For fox to deer (.243, now wears a 3-9x Redfield):

Not Pictured: Winchester 1300 12ga for small game to coyotes.

Anything more would be a waste of my time.

My father was an old time 'gun crank' and when he passed in the early '90s I inherited several of his guns. Several years ago I decided to simplify things and just kept the pieces I liked best. I sold all the guns I had purchased and just kept Dad's. Almost all of my shooting is when I'm hunting so these are my hunting guns:

Sporterized Original Haenel Lawrence Wehrmann single-shot 98 Mauser chambered for 30-40x.315 AI.

Richard Marhoff & Sohn Drilling - 16ga x 16ga over .22 Savage HiPower AI.

Old, beat to crap Western Field single-shot .22 (for reasons unknown to me this old cheapy is one of the most accurate rifles I've ever shot).

S&W Mod 19-4 .357mag, 6" barrel.

I have a many different firearms, but only a few that end up on the hunt regularly.
They are all used on different species though.

1. My Ruger Frontier .308 Winchester,With Leupold VX 2 3x9x40 Scope, its used for Deer and Wild Hog.
2. My Mossberg 835 Ulti Mag Shotgun, Its used for Various Critters, and Birds, including Turkey.
3. My Wichester Model 270 Pump .22LR Rifle with Weaver 4x Marksman Scope. It is used almost entirely for Coon Hunting with Hounds, its has reflective tape on the stock to help me aviod loosing it.
4. Stainless Steel Ruger Single Six Revolver, it has a 6.5" barrel, and is chambered for .22 Magnum I carry this while Coon Hunting, when I dont have my Rifle with me, I keep ear plugs in my shirt pocket, and have shot a few Coons out of trees with it. Also killed a Hog with it one night in a thicket.
Those are pretty much the tools that I use for my various adventures, the rest of my guns are just for looking at and shooting at paper ocasionally.

plenty

coyotes
-5mm Mag Rem M591 w/ 6x Leu (useful cause only rimifires are legal on the
local WMA most of the time for varmints)
-.223 Mk X mini mauser w/ Leu 6x
-22-250 Ruger 77V w/ vintage Weaver K12, largely retired, but it slew a
bunch of groundhogs when we had'em (coyotes eat'em all now!)

turkey
-a shotgun for me now is something to bust spring gobblers with. Bought myself a graduation present from college in 1980, a REm Wingmaster, and have hunted it for most all my shotgun use ever since. Have 2 -26" bbls for it, a FC and an IC, but for the past 15-20 years, it just wears the 20" rifle sighted bbl with the turkey tube year round.

deer
I will likely only ever hunt whitetails, with an occasional hog maybe, and my rifles reflect same (one can always hope of course). I am a rifle fanatic, love to load, shoot, talk it, but hunt these primarily....

-.308 Win 88. w/ Bushnell 4x. This was an heirloom rifle from my Grandad and my only 'deer rifle" for a long time. As times got better, I retired it.
I've taken more deer w/ the M88 (riflle kills) than my other guns combined

-.270, Rem 700 ADL, synthetic, from Wally World, $333 new, with a Burris
USA-Full Field 3x9 currently. Replaced the M88, but I don't hunt it that much

-Ruger .44 carbine, tube model, w/ USA Redfield 2.75x. I've hunted this stubby brush rifle a bunch, and still like it. Its second on the kill list after the M88

-7.62 x39 Ruger 77-II, stainles w/ Leu 2x7 Bought this as my boys rifle and
grapple him for it often. Killed my biggest buck with this modest rifle.

-Mini 30, w/ Leu 1-4x, I missed w/ it this year, and will hunt it again next year

Honorable mention
-Dads Savage 110-243 w/ Leu 3x9
-savage Scout .308 w/ Leu 2.75 IER scope

But...I am a bow hunter for deer primarily. My bow and rig, a Matthews FX, 63 lbs, budget carbon arrows, and vintage Bear Razorheads. That combo went up about 50 trees this season. With a 100 day plus deer season, a fella gets to hunt a bit if he works at it some!!!!!!

DPMS LR-308 with a Centerpoint 4-16x40 scope for deer, bear and elk.

Home built AR-15, DPMS stripped lower and upper and whatever parts I managed to piece together to build it - don't remember all the brands - with 20" heavy barrel and Nikon Prostaff scope for deer (close shots) and coyote.

Semi-home built AR-15, DPMS stripped lower and DPMS lower parts kit, Tapco 6-point stock, hogue grip, CMMG .22lr upper with 16" barrel and a Simmons 3-9x40 scope for squirrel, rabbit and the occasional coyote.

Ruger 10/22 with an old pre-ban folding stock (forgot the brand) along with an old Tasco 3-9x40 scope for squirrel and coyote.

Ruger 10/22 carbine with open sights - also for squirrel and coyote.

Mossberg 500 with factory polymer thumbhole stock, 18" barrel, aftermarket fiber-optic front bead for birds (mainly pheasant and duck).

Ruger Super Blackhawk with open sights for handgun deer.

I am developing some rifle envy here...

I have a Marlin 795 for putting bunnies in the pot, and I will soon have a Savage 10GXP3 in 7mm08 for deer and other deer-like critters. I hope to eventually add a varmint rifle and something heavier for elk and such, but it will probaly be a while, unless I get the wife on board...

Egad, dont get me started. The short list............ Everything in 06 case (6mm to .35). Everything in 08 case (6mm to 308). Some small stuff (22-250, 257AI). Some mags (7mm, 300WM, 375H&H, 378WBY 458WM). Some military ( 6.5 jap, 6.5 carcano, 30/40 krag, 7x57, 8x57, Plus GI...06 etc.) Oh yeah, and some old stuff........30/30, 45/70, 45/120. Im sure that there is one or two that I have missed. Out of all this, I only use 4. 22-250, 25-06, 300WM, & 378WBY.

No sense in me going into pistols or shotguns that I use.

Goofy me, I thought an arsenal was where they made or repaired guns and stored them for an army.

I do have a nice little collection but my favorite is still the first gun I ever bought back in 1964. Rabbits, squirrels and pigeons take one shot. Moose and bear take two shots. I suppose I should get a bigger gun one of these days but them big bullets they shoot scare me.
