Darn you, just when I thought the gun was too ugly to buy, I find a not too bad looking replacement. Thanks

Yeah, I remember the Grendel. Came out at the unfortunate time when the original "crime bill" was signed back in '94 or so, which affective killed the only advantage the gun had (hi-cap).

anyone know when kel-tec is releasing it? Looks like a super gun to me een if ugly. Might buy a pistol and carbine if they are offered at normal kel-tec prices.

I like it, but the pistol doesn't fit any of my needs; to big for carry, not powerful enough for carry or HD, a 22lr is a better/cheaper plinker cartridge.
A carbine sounds more like something that would interest me. take the Kel-tec survey: http://www.kel-tec-cnc.com/survey/ specifically item 4. |

I considered purchasing and then passed on several Grendels over the years. I've handled them and looked at one dissassembled. The bottom line was I just never felt that they were worth the $400+ prices that people were asking for them..... Not something I need; ugly; lots of plastic; 30 rounds of .22 magnum was interesting, but that was about it.
If it was around $300, I probably would have purchased one. That's about the most that I'd pay for one, though. |

Grendel P30
Ugly or not, I found a Grendel P30 with two 30 round magazines at the Gun Show here in San Antoni, Tx, this last weekend for $325.00 and took it. I then went to the range to test it out. The trigger failled to return about 7 out of 10 times after each shot. I felt crappy and took the weapon apart to see what was the problem. I'm happy to say the last owner never cleaned the weapon and it appeared to be fowled up with a lot of grime. :barf: I did a really good cleaning and afterwards the trigger worked fine. Ugly or not, it fits into any collection and just sticks out as a unique "Piece of Work."

Bad news for those who may be hoping the new Kel-Tec mags will work with the P30. The PMR uses a heel release so it looks like they won't quite interchange.

This pistol with a 6" threaded barrel with a removable stock that holds 3 extra 30 round clips would be outstanding as far as I am concerned.

Grendels
Some years back I picked one up cheap in .32acp. It didn't have a magazine...they loaded into a blind frame from the top by use of stripper clips which came with it. Two I recall. It was unreliable and clunky and forget combat reloads. But, so many BUGs were in the early 80s and late 70s.

Just picked up one yesterday.
Got tired of waiting for a PMR30 and found this at my local gun store. Has three mags with it. (No, I won't sell them). I love this round, and enjoy breaking rocks with it at the local range when paper targets get boring. Have several pistols and rifles in this caliber, and I just couldn't resist this gun at the store. Ugly? Hell, if Glock is acceptable in terms of aesthetics, this baby is a beaut!
