Arisaka

My friend has an Arisaka his great grandfather brought back from world war two, It has a shortened stock but I cant tell if it was sporterized or not. I dont have pictures but i do know it has a flip up sight. Its got a pretty cool story behind it. The story is that his grandfather was coming up the hill and saw the japanese soldier shooting down hill at the other americans. Story goes that my friends great grandfather shot the soldier and ran out of ammo in his m1 so picked up the arisaka and kept fighting.

Shortening the stock is enough to kill it's collectability. It's not what most people consider to be sporterized, unless more was done to it.

Nice story about the gun.
Lots of the battles in the Pacific theater had very fluid battle lines and frequently it was difficult to bring supplies up to the Marines and soldiers up front. It wasn't unusual to pick up a Japanese weapon till a runner came along with ammo.
