Sporter p14 mag well

I recently purchased a P14 Enfield that is in a nice sporter stock. It has had the trigger guard/ floorplate modified to take the offset out. It unfortunately is missing the mag well. How much trouble is it to shorten a regular mag well to work with this modification. How much would a gunsmith charge to do this work?

Not a difficult task.To do so,scribe a line around the bottom edge a 1/4" up and all the way around. This includes theshoulders at the ends.Than use a hacksaw and file to shorten the box that amount.

Permit me to add to RayO's reply. Cut a bit overlong, and then work it down with a file, trying as you cut. It is a lot easier to take off metal than put it on, and you don't want the box rattling around.

Thanks for the advise. I have ordered a P14 mag well from Numrichs and will proceed slowly as advised.
