Need Lothar Walther Barrel Input

Planning on rebarreling my K98 to.308 or 30-06
Considering LW because they offer a Military contour so I could keep everything else original.
Anyone have any input on LW barrels, are they polygonal rifling or standard ?
Does any other barrel maker make a military contour

I am not sure which companies offer the military contour. I do have some experience with Lothar Walther barrels though. I currently have three rifles with their barrels and I personally love them. I have had really good luck out of them.

I have used Loather Walther barrels
They are very high quality
They have the military step conture in 308, 12/1 twist
in stock, or will make a 10/1 twist for you
I beleive they also have a 30-06 barrel for a large ring Mauser
in the military step conture
Finding the military step conture barrels on their web site is
difficult but they are there
They will give a discount for C&R FFL

At this time, the other source for a 308 barrel military conture barrel is
Cole Distributing Inc.
(Noregian replacment barrel, 308 cal. P/N- BAR03 )
They are new old stock

There are only a few Lothar Walther barrels available through Brownells.

I have bought 6 CM LW barrels blanks over the last 10 years; 257, 257, 257, 257, .224, and .284.

The US guy, Woody, or what ever the name of the LW guy in the US is, does not want to give me any wholesale deals.
I am a nobody and I just make rifles for myself.

And there are some issues with the LW stainless. It is tougher to machine than many US made SS barrels. It may last longer, but it takes a different cutting speed on the chamber.

But the LW barrels that I have used are very high quality.
It is basically the same as any other barrel that is factory lapped and stress relieved.

You can also get that quality from Krieger, Shilen, Hart, Lilja, and Pac Nor are the ones I have, but there are a number of other barrel makers that offer top quality barrels.

Well I ordered a Wilson military step barrel in 30-06 from brownells since they can have it to me in a few days. LW is atleast 5 weeks out.
Side note, Wilson quit making these barrel, brownells has the last few.
