need info on gunmaker
Hi Folks,
Have a friend who owns an old shotgun which is labeled "B.B.Company". Does anyone have any info on this company? Thanks for looking, Raymond |

Can you be more descriptive? Single barrel, SxS, o/u, pump etc? damascus or steel barrels? Any other markings-check on barrel under any wood?
Possibly some photos? |

In the old days, hundreds of tons of shotguns were made for hardware stores and the like with the name of the retailer or distributor rather than that of the actual maker. That sounds like one of those. I have no record of that name, but if it was bought in the area you are in now there may be old records of such a store.
The practice has generally died out, but store chains like Sears, Montgomery Ward, and Western Auto kept "store brand" names for many years, on guns as well as other products. Jim |

Thanks Guys for the imput.
The owner of the shotgun, realizes that it probably holds very little monetary value. However, it holds setimental value as it has been passed down through the family. He was only hoping to get some background on it's origin. When he asked me about it, I had no clue. But, I offered to give you guys a shot at it, as I know some of you are very well informed on the older makers and retailers. I appreciate your time spent on the matter. Good shootin and remember to keep your legs crossed and your gown down. |
