Sub Gauge inserts ?
Ive seen around the web that there are inserts a person can buy for break open action shotguns that will allow use of smaller gauge shells.
Anyone ever see these or use them ? |

If I had a single or double, the survivalist in me would have to have one for 20 ga. and .410. I bet they pattern in the wind, though. Still, an accessory that could come in handy. And of course, more practically, good for training a young'n on a shotgun intended for use the rest of his life. Take the sting out of his/her 12 ga. NEF or Coach Gun by making it a .410 or 20.
You can get .30-06 and .308 adapters to take anything from .32 auto to .30 Carbine. |

the little inserts are more trouble than they are worth. If you really want to shoot subgauges in your gun, go to Briley or Kolar for their full-length tube sets

like oneounce told you - most of the shorter inserts are met with mixed results. If you really want sub-gague tubes talk to Briley or Kolar.
If you just want to fool around with some sub-gague loads once in a while - you may have some fun with the Browning "Little Skeeters" or one of the similar systems - but they really don't pattern too well. Buying an extra gun in 20 or 28ga if you really want to shoot other gagues is probably a better idea. |
