military powder for handguns

I am looking for information relating to using surplus military powder to reload revolver and pistol cases. Thanks in advance.

I haven't seen much surplus handgun powder available for sevral months. Off the top of my head WC820 is a pretty good handgun powder, I believe originally used in .30 Carbine. I have used WC820 in .357 mag., .44 Mag. and .223 Remington. Another powder was called Russian Unique. worked quite similar to Unique. This post has some info about which surplus powders will work in pistols and which commercial powders they have "similar" burn rates. Most info says to use the start data of commercial powder and work up. Military surplus powders vary sometimes a lot from lot to lot so you have to be cautious and work up and rework up every time you switch lots. I also recommend a chronograph to monitor load workups with surplus powder. Presently there seems to be no suppliers that has any surplus powders suitable for pistol loading?
