I have a sporterized 6.5 Japanese military rifle that has been rechambered for the .257 Roberts cartridge. The rifle has a slick action and I have shot 3/4 inch groups at 100 yards using open sights. These rounds have to be reloaded in a .257 Roberts case that is neck sized for the 6.5 Jap bullet. I have used reloading data for the 6.5 Jap as my guide to powder types and weights with success but I was wondering if anyone out there has any loading data specifically for the .257 Roberts x 6.5 Japanese caliber. I have contacted the NRA but they tell me they have no information on it. I would be most interested in hearing comments from any others that have used and reloaded this caliber.

As far as I know no one has ever produced specific loading information for this caliber.

The people I know who reload for this use a combination of .257 and 6.5 Arisaka information.

The Arisaka action is extremely strong and well designed, and will take a LOT of abuse.

There is a documented account (I've seen the rifle and the bullets) of one being rechambered for .308 Winchester, but without having the bore increased to the proper diameter.

The action held, primers were heavily cratered, and the bullets were swaged through the bore into pencils.
