Conversion Cylinder Question

I'm looking to get a Howell's Old West Conversions Drop-In Conversion Cylinder for my 36 Caliber Pietta 1851 Navy Steel Frame Black Powder Revolver for 38 Colt (Long Colt) ammo. Can I use 38 Special HBWC wadcutters in this cylinder. I plan on using cowboy loads only at right around 700 fp along with some BP loads in 38 colt (Factory Goex) I have plenty of 38 sp. brass and HBWC bullets and very few 38 colt cases. Can 38 special be fired safely in these cylinders. Thanks
