Can we add a forum or a link to resource-cluster that would help utter novices? Example: someone who's never bought, used or thought much about guns wants to get one for Y2K. They follow my link to he TFL resource and learn where to get training, what the applicable laws are, some hints and tips on use, storage and safety...

It would help to get newbies over the hurdle of getting their first gun and also reduce the problem from "trigger-happy yuppie morons with un-sighted AKs spraying the neighborhood on Halloween".

Thoughts?

How about a link to a set of frequently asked questions (FAQs) for novices? There could be a number of categories along the lines CR suggested.

Oh yeah. And then show the newbies how to do the url thingie so we only have to click on the address - that's neat! Much better than that tacky method of hilite, copy, paste, etc. (ugh! How very lolife...)

Then maybe you can show us retarded NON-newbies the HTML trick of clicking on a phrase or word and getting zapped to an address. Oboy! Sewper kewl!

(I've just GOT to get out more....)

Dennis and Rich,

You are missing my point. The FAQs I was referrring to would be related to firearms, RKBA and the like. The FAQ on TFL is soley oriented around use of the board.

Mendocino...

CR's and my website are good resources, additionally I'm part of the RKBA Webring and as a result you can surf gunstuff to your heart's pleasure (bottom of page)

As a newbie, I have noticed a lot of abbreviations that I don't always know, becuase, well, I am new to this whole thing. For example, what is "RKBA" Right to Keep and Bear Arms? I am never sure...

othermarc,
Guilty, your Honor!
RKBA = Right to Keep and Bear Arms, Right!

I, especially, should be a bit more aware of how cryptic these danged abbreviations can be. I've only been on the internet a few months and I'm barely holding my own.

Let's see if I can make a hyperlink to a couple web sites that might help you:

http://www.currents.net/resources/dictionary/chat.html

http://www.currents.net/resources/di...emoticons.html

http://www.Lawrenceburg.com/chat

However, the MOST important help for TFL (The Firing Line) would be the "faq" (frequently asked questions) near the top right of the TFL forums and threads. This will explain how to do urls, e-mail links, bold, italics, smilies and some other goodies.

Good hunting, buddy!

DC,

I agree; your site and CR's are great resources. My point was that to a newbie, an FAQ to RKBA and other associated materials *at* TFL might prove helpful. Personally, it doesn't matter greatly to me either way.

I have now officially stopped flogging this horse, which is done drawing breath
