Track of the Wolf Bucks County Rifle Kit update #14

It has been so long since I posted an update that some of you have written to me asking if I abandoned the build.

I have not. I've been just so slammed with magazine work the last couple of months that I haven't had time to work on it. But on Thursday I cleared my last deadline for July, and I could get back into the shop for awhile.

In this update I'm lowering the sides of the ramrod channel. In the next update I'll be installing the nose cap. I was planning for all that to be on one video, but it just got to be too long.

As usual, let me remind you that I am not an accomplished rifle builder. This is my first build in 20 years. There are undoubtedly better ways of doing things...this is just how I do them. If that stimulated discussion of better techniques from the more knowledgeable among us, I welcome the opportunity to learn.

Jack Brooks has an article on forming one piece brass nose caps in Contemporary Long Rifle. Of course, you need to have the dies to make it.

Here is a tutorial I did a few years ago that my old friend Colin Stolzer put on his site for all to see. It's a bit more advanced than a kit build, but I am sure there is info in it that will help you.

Use the link.

What a neat thread!

Lot of good techniques from an obvious expert.
