Surplus Magnum Pistol Powder

Is anyone using any of the surplus powder for their 357 or 44 mag? How did it do? It's very tempting to give it a try. Pat's has the virgin WC820 for $72/8lbs, or the pulldown WC820 for $62/8lbs. They claim it to be 13% faster than H110. It sure would be nice to cut my 44 mag load cost by $3/100. At least for my SWC "plinkers". A pound of W296 doesn't seem to last long.

what is the suggested powder charge and velocities with this surplus powder??

at 13% faster than h110 it might be right close to bullseye but alittle slower i'm guessing........ i use bullseye exclusively for .38 spl and .357 magnum loads with very results so far...........

The WC820 is said to be very close to AA#9 or 2400, so I would probably start with about 18.0 grains for a 240 SWC in my 44 mag, then work up. Bullseye works great in my 45ACP, 9mm, and 38 Special, but lacks a little (or a lot

) when loading for the magnums.

yep i was wrong.. looking at the chart it shows h110 is slower than 2400 by a couple of powders... my 2400 load for .357 magnum is 16 grs. ....... i guess i'll stick with bullseye as it's so much more economical to load with.....

WC820 Orignal application is for the U.S. Cal. .30 Carbine Ball M1 round. This lot loads at 13.5gr with 110gr FMJ projectile. This is a ball powder which can be loaded using Accurate Arms #9 (AA#9) data.Perfect for .410 shotgun loads. This is pulldown ball powder. $56/8# jug.
