"You have a right to defend yourself."
I just listened to the debate and heard Hillary Clinton talking about Isreal in response to Sanders' comment about the Palestinians, state, 'You have the right to defend yourself'. I wonder why that does not apply to the citizens of the United States.

Well... because it's not really the same thing to be fair.
The issue at hand there is one entity actively attacking another, and the other responding. It's not a situation where Israel is arming themselves for the possibility of someday being attacked. Also, to be fair, I doubt you'd hear even Hillary say that we don't have the right to defend ourselves. She might disagree with what and how you should be able to, but the idea that she's suggesting Israel can defend themselves but US citizens can not is somewhat ludicrous and quite the straw man. |
