My oldest firearm- 1918, US Property marked

Modified with a target front sight sometime in the past 90+ years. Shoots well on the very rare shooting trip, and reliable.

Chris_B,

That 1918 1911 is absolutely priceless in so many ways (and yes I hope the range trips with it are rare unless it just to show ).

Do you know (or is there a way) the complete story of the pistol?

-Cheers

I shoot one mag per year

Only info on the pistol is that it went to Springfield Armory for inventory around May of 1918. I don't know if that was preparatory for overseas transport, or if it was to go into storage

spyderdude,

Very nice--Was there a waiting period? I am always reading about the Ruger Order Backlog (man I wish I would have bought a few shares several years back--not Quite Apple but I'd take it! ).

-Cheers

I didn't have to wait for it except the 24 hour time frame I went through because it was on layaway. My LGS had a few of them in stock. I haven't shot it yet but it is a well built 1911 and feels like one that costs twice as much. I've read countless positive reviews and it really seems like a lot of gun for the money.

Jeez, thanks guys. But if you look at K511's Model of 1911, it's nicer and looks like it might be all-original

Alien- that's a seriously nice 1911

Agreed--Many of these pics are breathtaking (in particular when compared to mine, for example, which was taken with an "average" cell-phone camera at best, namely, a Galaxy Nexus S). I am already "in-line" for the new Galaxy Note II which has a much nicer camera (it's big and I call it a phablet).

I would bet 80% of the pics were via a cell-phone but would think that some of the gems that are even staged were "shot" by some serious multi-media hardware!

Really it is not that hard to take a good pic even with a cell phone these days. It is all about the light and the back drop. You can build a simply light box out of PVC and a few clip lamps with the right bulbs to produce nice images. I am by no means a good photographer but with a simple setup and a $500 Cannon I can take these type of pics.

Here is a great link with all the info you need. To take great pics. I love this design because you can change the size if you want. It is also easy to change the back drop whenever you want.
