My shotgun's magazine spring has weakened to the point that it is in need of replacement with a new one. However, I am unsure as to how to do so as there is no readily apparent point of entry into the tube (as opposed to the Remington 870).

Jack, the mag tube has to be unscrewed from the receiver. Some, not all, 500s have a slot in the end of the tube. This is there to be uses as a screw head. You may have to make a tool to fit from flat stock. George
