aimtech mount = not much shock on scope?

ok so i am going to get an aimtech mount for my ruger p89, and since the scope will hover above the slide, recoil shock wont be as much of a problem. I dont want to get a horrible BSA scope but i dont need anything like a burris or leupold, so i was wondering what you all think about just a Simmons pro-hunter 2x20 ($100), also, can someone tell me what kind of rings i will need to mount this or does it slide onto the aimtech mount? thanks
