I'm down to only two calibers I reload for, 30-06 and .44 mag.
I like to keep things simple and have narrowed down to H414 and H110.
Of course, that is not to mention the twenty, or more, pounds of black powder I keep on hand as my main shooting avocation is traditional muzzle loaders.

Peet,
You don't have AA#7 or WSF yet? How can you sleep at nights?

Three powders:

Alliant Unique
Alliant 2400
IMR 4350

These two Alliant powders cover my 9mm, .357 magnum, .44 magnum, and .30 Carbine. They are physically different, so even my old eyes do not confuse the two. There may be better for a specific use, but these two have done me well for 40 years. They are both my favorite.

The IMR powder is my choice for my 6mm Remington, it won out over IMR 3031.

Two powders cover my three shotgun bores and 5 pistol calibers (I like being a minimalist)
Three others cover my 6 different rifle cartridges (which I want to whittle down to one or two cartridges at the most)

I like being a minimalist too, but that's not working out very well for me (see previously posted list) I think 3 powders (Bullseye, Power Pistol, and 4985) could cover everything but I'll never get there.

ZX - I load for 12, 20, and 28, coupled with 32SWL, 38, 9mm, 357 and 45.

Am trying some Bullseye as well - but I get acceptable groups with Clays and Universal Clays which I buy in 8# jugs - just makes it easier for me

At one time I had 6 powders for 7mag and realized it is a hunting rifle, not a target one - 3/4-1" 3-shot groups are fine with me.......

I found this thread a little surprising. I figured that I would be on the light side of powder stock for most avid reloaders.

After reading this thread I was a little shocked to see that my powder stock seemed excessive compared to what I was reading (until Jbar4Ranch posted).

How come every time I sit down and read a reloading manual there always seems to be a better powder than one I have for whatever my current infatuation is?

I currently have:

AA #5
Power Pistol

I like how the AA #5 is shooting in the .40 but, I hate how it meters!

I have only just loaded a few hundred .380 and 9mm with the Power Pistol but I love how it meters! Nice smooth and even!

I was going to try Tight Group but, it seems like some of you that have used it don't like it as much as other powders? I think Bullseye will be the next one I try out? I have also used Hodgdon H414 for my 30-06 years ago and loved it.

Over 30 different powders and I have 2 lbs of the same for some. The powders are split about even for rifle and handgun. I load for 11 different calibers right now but buy some ammo for the calibers I use less instead of reloading.

Trying to keep it simple:

Clays: 38 Special, 40 S&W
Universal: 38 Special, 357 Mag, 40 S&W
AA#7: 357 Mag, (soon to try in 40 S&W)

Reloader 15: 30-06

That's all.

All the Best,

My load isn't anything exotic. 60 gn. Hornady JFP over 15 grains of 2400. I don't shoot this one much (for obvious reasons).

How Many powders??

Basically 2. I only load pistol. I have tons of AA2 and Unique. A couple of Universal Clays and one of Tight Group. I have a can of 231 in case I get another 44Magnum pistol. Mostly Federal Primers in large and small pistol.

Last time I counted, I only had about 15 different powders. Several for only my pistols, or only my rifles, while a few do double duty.

25 powders, could be 24 or 26 but I'm not counting them again, too far past my bedtime to list them. 16 calibers (could be more) including muzzleloaders. Only counting .45-70 once but I treat the BP and smokeless rifles and cartridges as individuals.
I'm going to bed before somebody asks about shellholders.

Well now I have to add Bullseye to the list! I just ordered 3000 small pistol primers and 4lbs of Power Pistol and 4Lbs of Bullseye!

1/3Lbs of AA#5 Not buying anymore until I finish off these.
5Lbs of Power Pistol
4Lbs of Bullseye

For: .380, 9mm, .40, 45 Colt and .45 ACP.

That is still only 3 powders for me!
