Savage 12
I was hoping somebody can help me determine the exact model of my firearm. I bought it from budsgunshop.com back in 2012 and says its a savage 12 FVSS. the barrel is not stainless steel it looks like a dull gray color like its bead blasted. second it says on the barrel its a savage 12 in 308 win. It has a 26 inch heavy barrel with black synthetic stock and has the accu trigger. I looked up the serial number at savages website and says it was made in june 2012 but thats it.
Savage also doesnt list a 12 FVSS on there website. I just really want to know if the rifle has a 1/12 or 1/10 twist and if savage made guns advertise as stainless steel but the are bead blasted in stead. |

Call Savage and provide the serial number. They will be able to tell you the exact model.

In Savage language "F" means synthetic, "V" means heavy barrel, "SS" of course means stainless steel. So are you sure your rifle isn't really stainless with a dull finish? If it's not stainless then Bud's had the wrong model name attached to the wrong gun on their site.
The twist rate should be 1:10. You have to get into the longer barreled target series model 12 rifles to get a 1:12 twist
