Bear Hunting Help

I have been bear hunting in Vermont recently and I am having zero luck. I have a known bear that has been all over my property. I can't get him to show his face during the day. Bating is illegal in vt so that is not an option.
Do I have any hope of catching this guy from a stand or should I still hunt? It is frustrating because he is at the property with some frequency.
Vermonter.

The old saying goes If you want to get rid of bears buy a bear tag. Have you tried scents? Calls? Its hard to get black bears to be active during the day. Maybe just accidently leave your garbage can out

Dispose of bacon grease by pouring it on the ground instead of down the drain

Illegal

Not sure about Vt but in PA if you followed any of the above suggestions you would lose your license and pay a hefty fine.. I'm not in any better situation then you are. I can see bears all year long but not during the season.. Unless you have a large group that can organize a drive its mainly just luck whether your gonna get a shot or not.

Im no Lawyer, but if i forget to take the fish off my bqq when cooking dinner, or poured my bacon grease into my trash can instead of the drain- is that illegal? Since the answer is no, is it then illegal to shoot a bear that happens to come by around some time later? Hard to prove "baiting," in that scenario, i would venture to guess.

baiting

Since the bear is being enticed by food it is baiting, nothing more nothing less... If you know a bear is being enticed by food you are responsible to remove the temptation.. This includes bird feeders etc In PA people have been arrested for far less then putting out bacon grease.. In Alaska you can be fined for leaving your garbage cans out so bears feed at them..

In PA unless you're garbage cans are at least 200 yds from your house or you were archery hunting then you would be violating other laws. Regardless hard work pays off, and in the end if you don't use illegal means you don't have to pay as much.

When/where does he show up?
Plant yourself downwind in a legal spot.
I would use 'accidential' spills of smelly stuff.

WOW that would suck to be arrested for having a few beers and burn the fish.Because my wife sure aint going to let me bring that stinkin mess in the house. I'll have to take my chances with the game & fish. The wife can be a monster about things like that.

Oh man,,,
That's just e-vile,,,
I chuckled, but it's evil none-the-less.

Does anyone remember about 5-6 months back,,,
Someone had nailed a kitten through its paw to a phone pole,,,
There was speculation that it was done in an attempt to bait/call predators.

There is an incense stick called "7 miles of Dead Fish". It is not baiting, since you are not putting out food - you are putting out scent. I have also heard of, but not tried burning honey in an old tin can.

Get yourself some trail cameras, and figure out where/when the bear is moving. That's the best way I can think of to pattern it, and then you can plan your hunt using solid information.

I've called in bears with mouth blown predator calls, and even an electronic call on one occasion. It works, but can get a little nerve racking when you hear that bear circling you in the brush...

I don't think that they could get you for "accidentally" spilling bacon grease or having your grill out on your deck and forgetting to clean it completely after cooking fish.

Now my thoughts are the ethics of it. I look at it this way if you can sleep at night knowing you did that, then by all means go ahead.

Anise oil. Pour some around. They love that licorice odor and I doubt they would or could fine you. I can't believe you can still hunt a bear. Some kind of baiting is the only way. And your stupid state will be overun with them soon because no one can shoot them.
